About the Networking Dinner:

This event is typically held each February in celebration of Black History Month. Attendees get a chance to look their best and enjoy a fun/professional networking event with appetizers, mocktails, and a FREE professionally catered meal with industry professionals and students seated together who share similar interests. Previous keynote speakers include the Co-Founder of Humanize My Hoodie, the President of Wieden + Kennedy Portland, and On-Air Personality of National Football League (NFL) Network.

This event is a platform for young people to connect with industry professionals in their fields of interest and hear success stories! The target audience for this empowering event are students from Junior/High School, Undergrads at Iowa, and Graduate programs at Iowa. The Networking Dinner attracts students from multiple majors including Tippie’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs, engineering, entrepreneurship, the arts, media, journalism, sports, education, non-profit, and more. These students hope to connect with industry professionals like you in their fields of interest! Your presence will provide them with valuable insights into carving out a successful career path.

The Networking Dinner was created to focus on the cultivation of our next leaders, supporting their growth, igniting their passions, and connecting them to successful professionals.  Our goals for student attendees for this event have been:

  1. See representation and network Black professionals across industries.
  2. Discover mentorship from business leaders in their fields that interest.
  3. Explore potential career/internship opportunities.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at
