A short walk-through of the history of selfies and their evolution and how that influenced the development of modern technologies in modern smartphones. Layered with some anecdotes from his personal journey with Apple, one of the biggest tech industry firms, Yazan Alnahhas reflects on lessons learned and how they shaped his career and reasoning. Discussion will also touch on future directions based on incoming industry trends like artificial intelligence.  

PRESENTER: Yazan Alnahhas / Apple

Yazan is a senior engineering manager on the camera hardware design team at Apple. He joined Apple after obtaining a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. Before making the journey to Cambridge, Massachusetts, Yazan finished high school in Ramallah, Palestine where he seriously debated whether to pursue a filmmaking degree as opposed to engineering. Yazan is a full-time father of a 6-year-old daughter with hardly any free time left in the day, which results in running his daily 10K close to sunrise.
